Name: Little Canada Road Pavers Project –Pedestrian Crossing Analysis
Date: April 16, 2020
Page: 2

Crossing Alternatives and Destinations
Several pedestrian destinations were identified across Little Canada Road, and are shown below. This is
by no means an exhaustive view of potential destinations for walkers; however, they will assist in the
analysis due to their locations with respect to The Lodge.
Potential Pedestrian Destinations

There are two main alternatives to accommodate a crossing of Little Canada Road to and from the Lodge
Apartments and the destinations identified. The options are:

1. Use the signalized crossing at Rice Street. This signal will be upgraded to include ADA
compatible pedestrian ramps and accessible pedestrian signal equipment (i.e. talking pushbuttons
and countdown timers) with a county-led project on Rice Street in the next couple of years.
Crossing at this location would be preferred for pedestrians traveling to/from The Village or
Culver’s area. If the destination is further east such as the bowling alley, this would add
approximately 1.5 minutes (assumed walking speed of 3.5 feet per second ) to the overall trip as
compared to crossing at Middle Street.
