The revised sign incorporates both existing city signage <br />elements for consistency and the element of structural steel that will be the main focal point of <br />the memorial. The cost to replace the existing sign with the new design is $12,342.00. The cost <br />does incorporate savings if that sign is installed at the same time as the memorial wall. <br /> <br />Since the trail entrance sign was altered, the new design was presented to the Parks & Recreation <br />Commission meeting at their May 7, 2020 meeting. The Commission made a motion to approve <br />the replacement of the Firefighters Memorial Trail sign with the new design as presented (see <br />attachment). <br /> <br />Since the project will be taking place within a county boulevard, the plans and permit application <br />were submitted to Ramsey County. They have reviewed the plans and have approved the <br />application for the construction of the memorial. <br /> <br />In addition, it should be noted that Bolton & Menk is providing consulting services on this <br />project at no cost to the City or Little Canada Fire Department. <br /> <br />SOURCE OF FUNDS <br />The City budgeted $6000 in the General Capital Improvement Fund (400) in 2019 for the <br />repair/replacement of the current monument sign. The additional $6500 was included in the <br />2020 General Capital Improvement Fund Budget amendment.
