MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />SEPTEMBER 22, 2008 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a special meeting of the City <br />Council of Little Canada, Minnesota was convened on the 22nd day of <br />September, 2008 in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at <br />515 Little Canada Road in said City. <br />Mayor Bill Blesener called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. and the <br />following members of the City Council were present at roll call: <br />CITY COUNCIL: <br />Mayor <br />Council Member <br />Council Member <br />Council Member <br />Mr. Bill Blesener <br />Ms. Barb Allan <br />Mr. Michael McGraw <br />Mr. Rick Montour <br />ABSENT: <br />Council Member <br />Mr. John Keis <br />ALSO PRESENT: City Administrator Mr. Joel R. Hanson <br />City Attorney Mr. Patrick Kelly <br />LMCIT Attorney Mr. James Monge III <br />City Clerk Ms. Kathy Glanzer <br />VALOR James Monge, League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust Attorney <br />ENTERPRISES assigned to the City's defense of Valor Enterprises versus the City of <br />Little Canada, reported that this special meeting is being held this evening <br />at the request of Valor Enterprises. Valor Enterprises has requested an <br />opportunity to address the City Council regarding their lawsuit against the <br />City. Lori Peterson will address the Council on behalf of Valor <br />Enterprises. <br />Bill Griffith, attorney representing Valor Enterprises, thanked the Council <br />for the opportunity to meet with them this evening. Griffith felt this <br />meeting was important given the earlier mediation that was held between <br />Valor and representatives of the City, which Griffith pointed out that they <br />learned at that mediation session that the City's attorneys did not have <br />specific authority to settle the case. Griffith reported that the case is set to <br />go to trial and discovery will begin in earnest. Before that process <br />proceeds, Griffith indicated that Valor Enterprises would like to make one <br />last effort to settle the case on reasonable grounds. Griffith reported that <br />Lori Peterson and Valor Enterprises would like to settle the case and move <br />on with her personal and professional life. <br />Lori Peterson, Valor Enterprises, stated that she appreciated the <br />opportunity to review the situation with the Council.
