MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
DECEMBER 1, 2021
Mr. Eric Anderson, Poolside, stated the fence shown is already there, and they will be updating
i, ;n +ly tl,oro LTo + +oa tl,A r,a`J part of the build -n Coll d be about 25 feet high. Keis asked how long construction would
take. The Contractor stated if they can get materials, it should take about four months to complete,
and the business will remain open. He stated the owners want to avoid outside storage and want to
make the site look much better for the neighborhood.
Mr. Dave Dorn, 2739 Jackson Street, stated that he had been going back and forth with the Poolside
owners for years to finally get fencing installed along Jackson that is not see-thru. He stated
Poolside wants to add another entrance onto Jackson Street, but he explained that currently many
customers exit on Jackson and turn left, even though there is a sign that says "Dead End," and then
they turn around in his driveway. He stated it appears that they now want to add another driveway
onto Jackson Street. Mr. Anderson stated that they are allowed to have up to four curb -cuts on their
property and currently have two. He explained that their goal for adding a third curb cut is to
simplify traffic flow which he feels will eliminate people turning around in Mr. Dom's driveway,
and will expand the area for a turning radius for the trucks.
Mr. Jerry Maleitzke, 116 Little Canada Road East, stated that he is the neighbor on the north side,
and his main concern is the fencing. He stated that there is a small fence now, but Poolside is now a
big enough business that he wants a fence along the whole stretch of his property. Mr. Anderson
said there will be a new fence, and they are willing to put a full fence along that side. Mr.
Maleitzke asked where the semi -trucks would be coming in. Mr. Anderson said they would use
County Road C and Jackson, and they are working to make the turning radius and layout better for
the truck traffic.
Mr. Dorn stated that when Poolside first built the extra building, the semis were supposed to be
loading and unloading on their property, but they do it on Jackson Street instead. Mr. Maleitzke
stated that they also want the fence on their south property line to help with safety from theft since
he has chased a few people out of the Poolside property, and to help with noise. McGraw asked if
there was any way to have the semis unload in the parking lot instead of the street. Mr. Anderson
stated that with the parking lot reconfigured, it should make it possible for the trucks to maneuver
better.
Jim Martin, owns the office building next door at 127 County Road C East, and stated there is a
strip of land between his building and Poolside's storage building that they have maintained for
many years and is used for exiting his building, and wondered if the new fence would be placed
closer to his building. Mr. Anderson stated the storage building will be removed and replaced with
a parking lot so there should be more room for his exits.
The Community Development Director reported that the Planning Commission reviewed the plans
and recommended approval of the PUD amendment as proposed.
There were no additional comments from the public. Upon motion by Fischer, seconded by Keis,
the public hearing was closed.
2
