Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
PUBLIC HEARING — CONSIDER A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT AMENDMENT FOR
OUTSIDE STORAGE HEIGHT INCREASE AT ADVANCED MASONRY, 2956
YORKTON BOULEVARD
The Community Development Director explained that Advanced Masonry at 2956 Yorkton
Boulevard, is zoned I-P, Industrial Park, and has applied for a conditional use permit amendment to
increase their allowed outdoor storage height from 8 feet up to 12 feet high. She reported that they
received a conditional use permit to allow outdoor storage in 2006, with a conditional use permit
amendment and variance approval in 2011 to increase the square footage of outdoor storage and place
the storage in the side yard. She noted that OSHA has a limit of 15 feet high for storage.
The Community Development Director stated that the City's Fire Inspector met with Bob Miller of
Advanced Masonry Restoration, about the outdoor storage area. She explained that Mr. Miller would
like to increase the height of the storage racking to 12 feet because he wants to keep his outdoor storage
safe and move some overflow storage from the south parking lot. She noted the building is fully
sprinklered and the Fire Inspector does not have any issues with taller storage racking.
The Community Development Director reported that the Planning Commission reviewed the
request on November 10, 2021, and recommended approval as proposed.
Keis asked if they are allowed to store items on the south side. The Community Development
Director stated they are allowed to have storage on the south and east sides. Keis stated that he
drove by and does not think they will be able to get everything that is outside into only four more
feet taller stacking.
Mr. Bob Miller, owner of Advanced Masonry at 2956 Yorkton Boulevard, explained that when they
were inspected for their Outdoor Storage License, the inspector noticed they had storage taller than
their allowed eight feet. He stated they are done working for the season and have a lot more outside
since materials and equipment is now back from the job sites so they are shifting everything around
to get as much inside as possible during the winter. He stated that he spent a lot of money on
landscaping so the property looks nice, so he intends to have everything that is not currently
covered, to be put away.
3
