Page 5
PRIVACY
In addition, a policy has been implemented and communicated to all Department Heads and Supervisors to
protect the privacy of employees’ health status and health information. Several laws address the privacy of
medical information. To assure compliance with these laws, and to respect employee privacy, supervisors
MAY NOT reveal the name of the person who has reported COVID-19 symptoms or tested positive/negative
other than to those who absolutely need to know. If an employee would like others to be made aware of their
situation, they should ask a coworker to share the information and not a supervisor or manager. Supervisors
and managers should not share this information under any circumstances, even if it is widely known among a
work group(s).
HAND WASHING
Basic infection prevention measures are being implemented at our workplaces at all times. Workers are
instructed to wash their hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water frequently throughout the day, but
especially at the beginning and end of their shift, prior to any mealtimes, and after using the toilet. Some
workplaces have hand sanitizer dispensers (that use sanitizers of greater than 60% alcohol) that can be used
for hand hygiene in place of soap and water, as long as hands are not visibly soiled.
RESPIRATORY ETIQUETTE: COVER YOUR COUGH OR SNEEZE
Workers and visitors are being instructed to cover their mouth and nose with their sleeve or a tissue when
coughing or sneezing and avoid touching their faces, in particular their mouth, nose and eyes with their
hands. They should dispose of tissues in the trash and wash or sanitize their hands immediately afterwards.
Respiratory etiquette will be demonstrated on posters and supported by making tissues and trash
receptacles available to all workers and visitors.
SOCIAL DISTANCING & WORKPLACE PROTECTIVE ACTIONS
Social distancing and efforts to protect employees continues to be implemented in the workplace through
the following ways:

• All staff will make efforts to call, email or use other electronic options rather than in-person discussions
• All staff, City Council, Planning Commission and Parks & Recreation Commission meetings will be held
virtually when possible
• Masks, disposable gloves and sanitizer are available to all staff
• A daily cleaning schedule of high-touch/use areas will be implemented at City Hall and Public Works
facilities. All employees are expected to participate to ensure these daily duties are completed.
• Employees and visitors are not allowed to gather in groups or confined areas, and have been directed
not to use other workers’ personal protective equipment, phones, computer equipment, desks,
workstations, offices or other personal work tools and equipment.

Employees located at City Hall:
• Some employees will continue to work from home except on the days they are scheduled to be in
the office
• Front office workstations will have at least a 6-foot separation. Employees may be temporarily
moved to other office space when necessary to maintain the required separation distance.
• A clear Plexi-glass shield is installed on one side of the main office reception counter to separate
staff from customers. A free standing plexi-glass shield will be placed on the other front counter
section when absentee voting is occurring at City Hall.
