The project involves
replacing the three original (1991) roof mounted A/C units and the two original office furnaces located
in the apparatus bay. The third office furnace was replaced a few years ago.

We have had problems with two of the three A/C units this summer, and past sporadic problems.
Given their age (28 years), I believe it would be best to replace them all at this time.

There have been no recent problems with the two original furnaces (1991), but again given their age, I
think it would be best to replace them with higher efficiency units at this time.

The Fire Department received two bids for the work:

Heating & Cooling Exxperts LLC - $32,871
Aquarius Home Services - $28,400

Both bids are for high efficiency A/C units (16 SEER) and high efficiency furnaces (96%), which will
result in significantly reduced operating costs.

We are recommending that we accept the low bid from Aquarius Home Services and proceed with the
project. We did not budget for this replacement cost in our 2020 contract, but there is $42,000
allocated in the Capital Improvement Plan (400) for this purpose.

Thank you for your consideration.
