Creative Catering (Catering): Creative catering started to notice the effects of COVID-19 at the end of
February as they started to have cancellations of contracts. The business was completely shut down on
March 24th. June and July are typically booked with weddings and graduations, and they only had a
few events, and deposits had to be returned. Bookings have continued to be minimal, with only a
couple of events per week. Grant funds would be used primarily for lease and utility costs.
Creative Catering (Production):
The production side of the company is a separate LLC than the catering side. This application is for
$7,500 due to the fact that there are more employees on the production side. Because Creative
Catering is a commercial kitchen they are used to constant cleaning, glove wearing, and masking so
these are not new, however the cost for masks and gloves have gone up 400% due to COVID-19.
El Sombrero: El Sombrero was closed from March 18 – June 9, and has been open on a limited basis
since that time. Revenues have been substantially down, and staff is working with the business owner
for additional documentation. If awarded, the grant will be used for rent and utilities.
Global Volunteers: Global Volunteers is a human and economic development organization that
leverages short-term volunteers and institutional partners to help parents and local community partners
provide essential services to children and families. They align our service programs with the United
Nations Sustainable Development Goals to ensure comprehensive, measurable, sustainable, scalable,
and replicable models. With COVID-19 travel bans, Global Volunteers business has been severely
impacted because their customers could not travel. When air travel ceased, their sales dropped
significantly. They would use the grant funds for lease, utility, and communication expenses.
Little Venetian: The Little Venetian has lost considerable revenue due to reduced hours of operation
and a significant reduction in both in-person and take-out orders. They have been unable to do catering
events due to the restrictions of social distancing and have had to deal with limited occupancy since re-
opening in June. They did receive a $35,000 PPP loan and a $10,000 Ramsey County grant already. If
awarded, they would use the funds for lease and utility payments.
Panels Plus Woodworking: Panels Plus is a custom woodworking business located at 209 Ryan Drive.
The owners have had to loan the business money to pay for lumber to keep the business going. They
have already been awarded a $7,500 Ramsey County Business Relief Grant. If awarded, they would
use these funds for rent and utility payments.
Quality Furniture Rental: Quality Furniture Rental is a well-established furniture leasing business that
has been located in Little Canada at 2900 Rice Street for the past 12 years. Their primary business
income is generated from corporate housing, which has been greatly impacted with companies and
employees now working from home. They were closed from the end o f March through April, and their
retail business has been struggling since that time. If they receive grant funds, they would use it for
lease payments to Marketplace Center ($11,415).
Scholar Edge, LLC: This is our only home-based business application owned by Jason Lum at 2440
Sunrise Drive. On March 23, Mr. Lum contracted COVID-19 forcing a temporary business shut down.
Since that time, he has seen an 82% net loss and cannot visit clients. He has requested and received a
3-month forbearance on his mortgage in May. If a grant is awarded, he would use the grant to
reimbursement for his October mortgage payment of $2,225 plus additional qualifying expenses.
