STAFF REPORT

TO: Mayor Keis and Members of the City Council

FROM: Chris Heineman, City Administrator
Corrin Wendell, Community Development Director
Heidi Heller, City Clerk
Bill Dircks, Public Works Director

DATE: January 27, 2021

RE: Ordinance 851, Amendments to Fee Schedule

ACTION TO BE CONSIDERED:
Consider Motion to Adopt Ordinance 851, amending the Little Canada Fee Schedule for 2021
and authorize summary publication of the Ordinance.

BACKGROUND:
The proposed Ordinance 851 amends several sections of the City of Little Canada Fee Schedule
related to planning, zoning, water and sewer connection, and the development review process.
Many of these fees have not been updated in several years, so staff conducted a brief survey of
nearby communities including Roseville, Arden Hills, Shoreview, Vadnais Heights, Maplewood,
and White Bear Lake. Please see the attached spreadsheet for additional information.

These fees are charged to cover the cost of staff review and inspections for each category and are
not intended to be a source of revenue for the City. Based on the information that was gathered,
staff is recommending modest adjustments to several categories. Staff has targeted the midpoint
or below for each category and will continue to monitor adjacent communities on a regular basis.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the Council adopt Ordinance 851, amending the Little Canada Fee Schedule for
2021 and authorize summary publication of the Ordinance.
