Schifsky & Sons was significantly lower than the City Engineer’s estimate of $836,981.80. According to Bolton & Menk, this is consistent with the competitive bidding climate that we have seen this Spring throughout the Metro Area. We have worked with T.A. Schifsky & Sons on similar projects in the past and have found their work to be timely with good workmanship. Our contract with Bolton & Menk currently includes a cap of 18% for local roads and 20% for Municipal State Aid (MSA) roads. This reduction in engineering fees as a percent of the total project cost would provide the level of service typically provided for on our reconstruction projects.
