STAFF REPORT <br />TO: Mayor Keis and Members of the City Council <br />FROM: Bryce Shearen, Parks & Recreation/Community Services Director <br />Eric Seaburg, P.E., City Engineer <br />DATE: February 9, 2022 <br />RE: Approval of Plans and Specifications for 2022 Rondeau Park Improvements <br />ACTION TO BE CONSIDERED: <br />Motion to approve plans and specifications and ordering advertisement for bids for the 2022 <br />Rondeau Park Improvements Project. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />City staff, with guidance from the City Council, has prepared a 2022 Rondeau Park Improvement <br />Project utilizing the City’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding. The scope of <br />improvements are itemized below. The first are being procured directly by the City. The <br />remaining four items have been bundled into a project that will be publicly bid. <br />Other Park Improvements Procured Directly by City Staff <br />•New playground Equipment – City Council approved December 1, 2021 <br />•Poured-In-Place Rubber surfacing <br />•A new shade structure / picnic shelter – City Council approved December 15, 2021 <br />•New picnic tables, benches, and drinking fountain <br />•Basketball Court Resurfacing <br />Site Improvements included in Bid Package <br />•New sidewalks and trails throughout the park <br />•Drainage improvements near the basketball courts <br />•Drainage & grading to accommodate new shade and play structures <br />•Tree and landscaping plantings <br />Final plans have been prepared for the Site Improvements portion for the project and can be <br />solicited to contractors. The overall project budget is $520,000 with the site improvements <br />representing approximately $130,000 of the budget. <br />SOURCE OF FUNDS: <br />Park improvements will be funded through the City’s Capital Improvement Plan Fund utilizing <br />American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds since this park is within a Qualified Census Tract <br />(421.01).
