ISGInc.com Page 3 <br />Approach <br />GETTING STARTED <br />Before diving into granular details, ISG will define big-picture goals that are focused on the future in relation to this community space. <br />Not only does documenting goals ensure alignment among City Council members, but it also provides a foundation of information <br />to reference. To gain a full understanding of the needs of current and future athletic and recreational facilities, it is important to <br />weigh the cost of improvements with the cost of funding a new site to determine what will best serve the community. ISG will <br />provide the following services to help the City meet its goal of strengthening Pioneer Park as a community recreation park: <br />Funding Assistance <br />ISG can help determine viable options and recommend grants to assist with <br />project funding. The team can conduct a feasibility study and cost estimates <br />for items identified in the project scope and outline all of the requirements for <br />each grant so that they can be monitored and tracked. <br />Park Evaluations <br />Focus on specific attributes, existing conditions, and future programming. <br />Evaluation of each proposed amenity will balance operational costs with <br />overall community recreational needs. Things to consider during master <br />planning efforts often include: <br />• Walkability, connectivity, and trails <br />• Safety and accessibility <br />• Cost differentials of improvements versus replacements <br />Recreational Planning <br />Plan and design phased park improvements that meet the needs of all <br />user groups, by exploring opportunities to increase the usability of park by <br />considering the following: <br />• Replace the current playground with an ADA-accessible playground <br />• Add an interactive water feature <br />• Increase safety with trail lighting <br />Community Engagement <br />Review report findings from the City’s recently completed community <br />engagement plans to better explore park needs through the eyes of the <br />public and ensure: <br />• Feedback and input is in the forefront of every design decision <br />• All voices are heard and each user group is considered <br />• Community needs are integrated into concepts and support one <br />cohesive park plan <br />• Social Pinpoint or a similar tool captures public input in an easy-to- <br />understand format <br />• Engage the Parks Commission and community through two (2) Public/ <br />Parks Commission meetings and one (1) Public/City Council meeting
