We are <br />requesting that City Council confirm general direction of the master plan and provide additional insights <br />related to preparation of materials for Canadian Days and further development of the master plan <br />document for consideration by Council in mid-August. <br /> <br />PIONEER PARK MASTER PLAN PHASE 1 PROGRESS: <br />The following elements depict progress from the recent Parks & Recreation Commission Meeting on July <br />1st, and considers public input received during the month of June. <br /> <br />• July 1 Parks & Recreation Commission Meeting: <br />o Concentrated discussion centered around the following focus elements, in order of <br />priority: <br />1. Playground area improvements <br />2. Potential water feature opportunities <br />3. Trail lighting considerations <br />4. Trees and landscaping management <br /> <br />• Public Input related to Park Improvement Concepts: <br />o A project website was created, and opportunities were extended to the public to <br />participate in an online survey and interactive website during the month of June. <br />o Comments were provided on general park improvement considerations as well as <br />identified focus projects. <br /> General commenting on athletic fields and facilities <br /> General pedestrian accessibility and access opportunities <br /> A desire for additional seating opportunities <br /> Additional shading opportunities were requested; particularly as part of <br />playground area improvements <br /> Desires for playground area improvements <br /> Comments related to a potential water feature <br /> Discussion on trail lighting <br /> A few comments on condition of the existing trail
