<br /> <br /> STAFF REPORT <br /> <br /> <br />TO: Mayor Keis and Members of City Council <br /> <br />FROM: Chris Heineman, City Administrator <br />Brenda Malinowski, Finance Director <br /> <br />DATE: September 22, 2021 <br /> <br />RE: 2022 Preliminary Levy <br /> <br />ACTIONS TO BE CONSIDERED: <br />The Council is asked to consider motions to approve the 2022 Preliminary Levy, set a date and time <br />for the Budget Hearing, and set the bonded debt tax levy at zero. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The City of Little Canada is required to establish a preliminary levy by September 30th. The preliminary <br />levy may be decreased before the final adoption in December, but it may not be increased. <br /> <br />Proposed levies and the budget were presented at a City Council workshop on August 25th and September <br />8th. <br /> <br />Levy: <br />The preliminary levy presented at the workshop on September 8th was as follows: <br />Levy Component 2021 2022 <br />$ Increase <br />(Decrease) <br />% <br />Increase <br />(Decrease) <br /> General Fund $3,300,130 $3,465,610 $165,480 5.01% <br /> Fire Equipment Fund 160,000 160,000 - 0.00% <br /> Infrastructure Fund 122,200 122,200 - 0.00% <br />Gross Levy $3,582,330 $3,747,810 $165,480 4.62% <br /> <br />Based on feedback from the workshop, the preliminary levy has been changed to $3,761,410 (5% <br />increase).
