STAFF REPORT

TO: Mayor Keis and Members of the City Council

FROM: Eric Seaburg, P.E., City Engineer

DATE: December 15, 2021

RE: Final Pay Request for Spooner Park Storm Sewer Improvements

ACTION TO BE CONSIDERED:
Motion to approve Final Pay Estimate to Forest Lake Contracting, Inc. in the amount of
$65,360.50.

BACKGROUND:
Forest Lake Contracting performed some storm sewer repairs on the south side of Spooner Park
a couple months ago. They added some pipe and catch basins in the area just west of the lower
shelter to help pick up runoff before it erodes away the grass as it has over the years. This work
also included picking up water that was sitting and pooling just north of the lower shelter. The
improvements should greatly improve the way that area of the park drains.

The Contractor has completed the scope of work and is eligible for final payment in the amount
of $65,360.50. The original contract amount was $68,062.50.

SOURCE OF FUNDS:
These improvements will be funded through the City’s Infrastructure Capital Improvement Fund.

STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends that the City Council approve payment in the amount of $65,360.50 to Forest
Lake Contracting, Inc.
