<br /> <br /> STAFF REPORT <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />TO: Mayor Keis and Members of the City Council <br /> <br />FROM: Bryce Shearen, CPRP, Parks & Recreation/Community Services Director <br /> DATE: December 15, 2021 <br /> RE: Purchase of Open-Air Picnic Shelter for Rondeau Park <br /> <br />ACTION TO BE CONSIDERED <br />Motion to approve the purchase of a hexagon open-air picnic shelter for Rondeau Park. <br />BACKGROUND <br />At the October 13, 2021, City Council meeting staff presented improvements for Rondeau Park <br />in 2022. The scope of the improvements would potentially include: <br />• Replacement of bituminous trails <br />• Create ADA accessible playground container <br />• Upgrade playground equipment (approved at the December 1, 2021, City Council <br />Meeting) <br />• Upgrade playground surfacing <br />• Re-grade a small area to eliminate current water issues along the east entrance <br />• Add draintile around the basketball court <br />• Add a small picnic shelter with a barbeque <br />• Replace benches <br />• Consider solar trail lighting <br />Estimate Improvement Costs: <br />Trail Repair/Maintenance $130,000 <br />Playground Equipment and Surfacing $300,000 <br />Picnic Shelter (Shelter, Concrete, Installation) $70,000 <br />Lighting $15,000 <br />Basketball Court Resurfacing $3,500 <br />Bike Racks $1,500 <br />Estimated Total Costs $520,000 <br /> <br />Continuing from the direction of the City Council to proceed with improvements at Rondeau <br />Park in 2022, staff continues to work on planned upgrades. Improvements valued between <br />$25,000 and $174,999 are considered major purchases and need to be approved by the City <br />Council. <br />Identified in the Park System Master Plan was the addition of a small picnic shelter with picnic <br />tables and a small barbeque grill for the neighborhood park. To aid in the design of the type of <br />shelter to install at Rondeau Park, staff utilized a survey that was given to the neighborhood for
