STAFF REPORT <br />TO:Parks & Recreation Commission <br />FROM:Bryce Shearen, CPRP, Parks & Recreation/Community Services Director <br />DATE:December 2, 2021 <br />RE:Commissioner Terms and Reappointment Process Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED <br />For information purposes only. No action is requested. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The second term for Commissioners Tom Ray and Peter Schletty are expiring December 31, <br />2021. Commissioner Schletty has requested to be reappointed. <br />Staff has received three applications and tentatively will be conducting virtual interviews on <br />November 29 & 30 with the applicants. The interview committee will be Parks & <br />Recreation/Community Services Director, Commission Chair, Mayor, and one City Council <br />Member. <br />After the interviews have been completed, the interview committee will make a recommendation <br />to the City Council for appointments that will be acted on at the December 15, 2021, City <br />Council meeting. Additionally, the Parks & Recreation Commission Ordinance calls for the <br />Mayor to make a recommendation for the Parks & Recreation Commission Chair. Mayor Keis <br />will make that recommendation at that December meeting, with the Council making the actual <br />appointment. The Commission will select a Vice-Chair at the first meeting in January. <br />Timeline for 2022 Appointments Process: <br />November 19 Applications/Reappoints <br />November 29 – December 8 Interview with new applicants with Committee* <br />December 10 Staff report with recommendations for appointments <br />December 15 City Council meeting for official appointments
