POSITION DESCRIPTION <br />PARKS & RECREATION DIRECTOR <br /> <br /> 2 <br /> <br />7. Serves as staff liaison to the Parks & Recreation Commission during their scheduled <br />meetings and is responsible for agenda preparation, in consultation with the Commission <br />Chair, including the preparation of staff reports as required. <br /> <br />8 Attends meetings of the Little Canada Recreation Association as the department’s liaison <br />to keep them informed of departmental activities, and to assist in their goal of <br />supplementing the recreation needs of the community. <br /> <br />9. Assists various civic clubs and organizations to help with proper coordination of <br />community projects and special events including, but not limited to, Little Canada <br />Recreation Association, Little Canada Canadian Days Committee, and area scouting <br />groups. <br /> <br />10. Liaison and advisor to community senior citizen organizations. <br /> <br />11. Prepares the annual operating and capital improvement project (CIP) budgets of the Parks <br />& Recreation Department. Budget preparation is to include recommendations regarding <br />fees charged for programs of the Department to meet budget projections. The CIP budget <br />shall be submitted to the Parks & Recreation Commission for their approval prior to <br />submittal to the City Council. All budgets are to be reviewed by the City Administrator <br />prior to submittals. <br /> <br />12. Seeks grant funds and requests for contributions for Parks & Recreation activities in <br />coordination with the City Administrator and in accordance with City policies. <br /> <br />13. Conducts an on-going safety review of parks property and facilities conditions and <br />practices associated with Parks and Recreation, and implements and/or recommends <br />programs to reduce and prevent personal injuries and property damage. <br /> <br />14. Assists in the oversight and coordination of Parks & Recreation capital improvement <br />projects. <br /> <br />15. Makes public presentations to the City Council, civic, and other governmental <br />organizations as required. <br /> <br />16. Coordinates the usage of public facilities for City recreational purposes such as parks, <br />shelters, the lower level of the Old Fire Hall, District 623 property, etc. <br /> <br />17. Be accessible to address citizen inquiries and concerns in a timely and tactful manner. <br /> <br />18. Represents the City in metropolitan, state, and national organizations in Parks and <br />Recreation matters where delegated, and where the interests of the Little Canada <br />community are involved. <br /> <br />19. Oversight of City’s tree inspection program. <br />
