POSITION DESCRIPTION <br />PARKS & RECREATION DIRECTOR <br /> <br /> 3 <br /> <br />20. Keeps the City Administrator informed on any important developments that may affect <br />the administration of City government. <br /> <br />21. Develops and maintains effective working relationships with employees, volunteers, <br />community leaders, civic groups, city officials and the general public. <br /> <br />22. Displays a high degree of tact, courtesy, and good judgment due to extensive contact with <br />the public. <br /> <br />23. Attends meetings, performs other duties, and assumes other responsibilities as apparent <br />or as delegated. <br /> <br />24. Regular attendance is considered an essential function of this position. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION OF OTHERS <br /> <br />1. Recreation Program Coordinators. <br />2. Ice Rink Personnel. <br />3. Program Instructors. <br />4. Program referees, umpires, and other officials. <br />5. Volunteer coaches and workers. <br /> <br />PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS <br /> <br />Depending on functional area of assignment, tasks involve the periodic performance <br />of moderately physically demanding work, usually involving lifting, carrying (up to 30 <br />pounds), pushing and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (up to 75 <br />pounds). Tasks that require moving objects of significant weight require the assistance <br />of another person and/or use of proper techniques and moving equipment. Tasks may <br />involve some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Tasks may involve <br />extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station, and extended periods of time <br />standing and/or walking. <br /> <br /> <br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES <br /> <br />Graduation from an accredited college or university with a four-year degree in parks and <br />recreation management, public administration, business administration, or related fields; or any <br />combination of education, training, and experience that provides the necessary knowledge and <br />abilities. <br /> <br />Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. <br /> <br />Experience with word processing and spreadsheet applications. <br /> <br /> <br />
