7.4 Maintain and expand Special Use facilities within Little Canada <br />7.4.1 Explore the addition of a 9‐hole disc golf course within the City <br />7.4.2 Identify a location and funding for a permanent, dedicated dog park <br />7.4.3 Develop a sledding hill within the City, potentially at Spooner Park <br />7.4.4 Maintain and enhance (as needed) the Skate Park at Firebarns <br />7.4.5 Identify a location and funding for a community garden within the City <br />7.4.6 Continue to provide at least one winter recreation opportunity in each half of the City <br />7.5 Maintain and develop flexible, high‐quality facilities that can be adapted to meet the <br />changing needs of the community well into the future <br />7.5.1 Maintain the Old Fire Hall to continue use as a City facility/ flexible community space <br />7.5.2 Explore the development of a multi‐purpose park building that can be used as an <br />educational/programming facility that contributes to strenghtening the community’s <br />visual character. <br />8. Provide facilities that support people of diverse age, race, ethnicity, ability, <br />gender, and economic status <br />8.1 Build or retrofit facilities to meet universal accessibility standards. <br />8.2 Expand outreach and engagement to a broad range of user groups to better understand and <br />serve their recreational needs <br />8.2.1 Engage minority, low‐income, elderly, and immigrant groups on an annual basis to <br />understand if and how the system could better meet their needs <br />8.2.2 Continue to work with current user groups to understand their evolving needs and <br />inform future decision making <br />8.3 Work with clubs, associations, volunteers, and other groups to better understand and serve <br />their recreational needs <br /> Maintain the database of existing organizations that serve Little Canada residents, <br />such as the Little Canada Recreation Association, and reach out annually to these <br />groups to assess needs and opportunities. <br /> <br />City of Little Canada 6‐19 Parks and Trails Plan
