Trails <br />9. Provide city‐wide access, mobility, and connectivity through active <br />transportation (walking and biking) <br />9.1 Work to fill gaps through easements or land purchases <br />9.1.1 When the timing is right, acquire an easement in the area north of Allen Avenue to <br />make a connection to Thunder Bay/Westwinds Park via power line right‐of‐way east of <br />Edgerton Street <br />9.2 Provide a well‐maintained, safe, and connected trail system <br />9.2.1 Provide a grade‐separated trail crossing over I‐35E, connecting the Water Works Right‐ <br />of‐Way and Firefighters Historical Trail to establish a cross‐city connection <br />9.2.2 Provide a grade‐separated trail crossing over I‐694, extending the Water Works trail to <br />Sucker Lake Road <br />9.2.3 Provide a grade‐separated trail crossing over Highway 36 as part of the larger Trout <br />Brook Regional Trail <br />9.2.4 Provide a sidewalk or off‐road trail on Edgerton Street and Labore Road <br /> <br />9.3 Provide safe and convenient walking and biking connections between homes, parks, schools, <br />businesses and other community destinations <br />9.3.1 Pursue Safe Routes to School funding to add sidewalks and/or trails on; <br /> Eli Road west of Little Canada Elementary School <br /> Demont Ave West near Roseville Middle School <br />9.3.2 Fill gaps on Rice Street <br />9.3.3 Continue to monitor Keller Parkway for the need to create a safer route for pedestrian <br />and bicycles <br /> If the need arises, work with Ramsey County to explore combinations of <br />elevated/cantilevered trail segments, striping, and one‐way traffic roads <br />9.3.4 Link neighborhoods to the system with sidewalks and trails <br />9.3.5 Support the connection of bikeways, trails, and sidewalks to the public transportation <br />system <br />9.3.6 Improve on‐street bicycle and pedestrian facilities where trails and/or sidewalks are <br />difficult to implement <br /> Implement striping for on‐street bike lanes where appropriate <br /> Additional signage for on‐street bike routes/lanes and right‐of‐way <br />paths/sidewalks <br /> Continue to sweep on‐street facilities for bicycles and pedestrians more frequently <br />to reduce the accumulation of gravel and debris. <br />City of Little Canada 6‐20 Parks and Trails Plan
