9.4 Continue to integrate trails and sidewalks into the planning and design process for private <br />development and public improvement projects <br />9.4.1 Include active transportation facilities where sensible in street reconstruction and <br />public infrastructure projects <br />9.4.2 Review the system for gaps and priority segments as part of the annual capital <br />improvement planning process <br />9.4.3 Collaborate with Public Works and other City departments, meeting on a semi‐annual <br />basis at minimum <br />9.4.4 Take steps to begin the planning process for priority projects to position them for <br />grant funding opportunities as they arise <br />9.5 Continue to engage federal, state, county, and adjacent municipalities to expand and <br />enhance active transportation facilities <br />9.5.1 Develop the Water Works Right‐of‐Way south of Little Canada Road with a paved trail, <br />working with the Saint Paul Regional Water Service <br />9.5.2 Collaborate with Ramsey County and surrounding communities to establish these <br />regional trail connections <br /> A connection to the Gateway State Trail via Keller Parkway and Arcade Street <br /> The Trout Brook Regional Trail, including a grade‐separated crossing of Highway 36 <br />and a link to the Water Works trail corridor <br /> The St. Anthony regional trail along the Minnesota Commercial Railroad corridor (if <br />it is retired from rail service). <br />See the maps on the following pages. <br />10. Use trails to make social connections as well as physical connections <br />10.1 Continue to provide walking trails in at least one park within each half of the City <br />10.2 Provide places or features for gathering and seating along trails <br />11. Make walking and biking easier and safer <br />11.1 Provide bike racks at all parks <br />11.2 Identify and monitor high frequency active transportation destinations and routes and modify <br />maintenance practices, signage, etc., as needed <br />11.3 Increase public awareness of the trail system <br />11.3.1 Make the system more visible with attractive wayfinding and signage <br /> Provide digital and physical trail maps to the public. <br /> <br />City of Little Canada 6‐21 Parks and Trails Plan
