Provide a system of high‐quality parks that meets the community’s evolving needs <br />and is an integral part of people’s active and healthy lives <br />1.1 Ensure access to a balanced variety of parks and amenities within Little Canada <br />1.1.1 Update park classifications to more easily understand <br />and evaluate the system as a whole, including: <br /> Gervais Lake Beach from Beach to County Park <br /> Gervais Mill Park from Community Park to Natural <br />Area <br /> Firebarns Skate Park/Old Fire Hall from <br />Neighborhood Park to Special Use Park <br /> Veteran’s Memorial Park from Neighborhood Park to <br />Special Use Park <br /> Little Canada Elementary School from Community <br />Park to School Park <br /> Westwinds & Thunder Bay Park from Neighborhood <br />Park to Linear Park <br />1.1.2 Ensure each quadrant of the City has a picnic shelter <br /> Search for an opportunity to add a picnic shelter in <br />the NW quadrant if population becomes more <br />dense or as demand warrants <br /> <br />1.1.3 Ensure each quadrant of the City has an open play field and playground for informal <br />play <br /> Search for opportunities to add an open play field in the NW and SE quadrants if <br />demand arises <br />1.1.4 Strengthen Pioneer Park as Little Canada’s Community Recreation Park <br /> Add a historical theme to Pioneer Park that tells the story of Little Canada <br /> Undertake a design development process to make phased improvements at <br />Pioneer Park <br />1.1.5 Strengthen Spooner Park as Little Canada’s Community Gathering Park <br />1.1.6 Collaborate with Little Canada Elementary School to reconfigure existing ballfields for <br />more functionality <br />NW QUADRANT <br />NE QUADRANT <br />SW QUADRANT SE QUADRANT <br />WESTERN HALF <br />EASTERN HALF
