Current Park Entrance Sign
PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION
At its March 4, 2021 meeting, the Parks & Recreation Commission discussed different sign
styles, colors, and fonts (attached are the meeting minutes). Staff recommends continuing to use
the traditional historic font that is currently on the park entrance signs and the same font for the
Firefighter Historical Trail Sign. Staff believes the dark woods green outside color with tan
letters would offer an improved look to the signs and help easily identify city parks.

The Parks & Recreation Commission made a motion to recommend the approval of the
replacement of park entrance signs recommending the traditional style and font along with a red
logo to be incorporated into the sign.

SOURCE OF FUNDS
$33,250 has been budgeted for in the City’s Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) Fund 400 for Park
Entrance Signs. There will need to be additional funds for the installation of the signs for
concrete and other miscellaneous supplies, but staff anticipates it will remain within the total
budgeted amount.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council approve the purchase of the new park entrance signs from
Vacker Sign in the amount of $23,120.00.

ATTACHMENTS
• Image of a current park entrance sign
• Rendering example of a new park entrance sign
• Estimate from Vacker Sign
