November 30, 2015
Mr. Joel R. Hanson
City Administrator
City of Li@le Canada
515 Li@le Canada Road,
Li@le Canada, MN 55117-‐1600
Dear Mr. Hanson,
I hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I am wriNng this le@er to follow our
conversaNon we had a couple weeks ago in regard to the “False Alarm Inovices” for Invoice #18948. First
of all, Thank you for the quick responses from the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Department when the alarms
were set off. It gives me great confidence to know that we are well protected. I apologize for the false
alarms as much as I have done to prepare for ownership, things have fallen through the cracks that I had
no control over.
I wanted to write this le@er to appeal the Invoice and any future invoices through November 7, 2015. To
explain my situaNon in wriNng as discussed via our telephone conversaNon, I had recently purchased the
property at 2860 Middle Street, Li@le Canada, MN 55117 on Friday, October 9, 2015. My construcNon
crew started the remodel of our space on Monday, October 12, 2015 and triggered the alarms. I was
noNfied by my construcNon crew a_er the second alarm on October 12th that the alarm had been set off
twice. At this Nme, I had immediately a@empted to put the alarm system into test mode by contacNng
the alarm company. Unfortunately, I had been given the incorrect phone number and name of the alarm
company so I had to do quite a bit of research and was finally able to get a hold of the alarm company.
The alarm service is contracted through a broker so I was bounced around a couple Nmes of who I
needed to contact. Then once I thought we had everything straightened out, I came to find out I was not
authorized to make the changes on the account as the seller did not follow through on his part with the
purchase of the space to transfer the authorized user to my name. I was unable to reach the seller so I
had contacted the seller’s realtor to eventually get that straightened out. Once the seller had allowed
me to be authorized on the account, I had put the alarm into test mode. Then I came to find out through
my alarm broker that the alarm system is connected to the AssociaNon’s fire suppression system and he
had given me incorrect informaNon that the system could be put into test mode as that would shut
down the enNre complex’s fire alarms. Thus I had to confirm changes and get authorizaNon through the
AssociaNon. Thus the two addiNonal false alarms on Oct 18 and Oct. 22. A_er having the Sheriff’s
department stop out on Oct. 22, I came to discover that the ball was dropped again by the alarm
company and the authorized user was never transferred properly thus I never received the calls from the
alarm company to inform them that it was a false alarm. I had a long conversaNon with the alarm broker
and they reassured me that the alarm system is now put into test mode and that they have the correct
phone number to contact and myself as the authorized person on the account. I had my first false alarm
call on November 7, 2015 so I know that they have the correct phone number to contact and the
Sheriff’s Department was not called.
So long story short, what has been done to prevent any addiNonal false alarms is:
1)I am now the authorized account holder.
2)The alarm company, not only has the correct phone number to contact, but three addiNonal
numbers to contact if the alarm company cannot reach me.
3)The remodel is completed as of last week so the alarm system will be acNve this coming week so
there won't be any exposed wires to create any addiNonal false alarms.
2860 Middle Street Little Canada, MN 55117 651-484-8783 truechiromn@gmail.com
