MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
OCTOBER 22, 2008
RESOL UTION NO. 2008-IO-270 -CONTINUING THE PUBLIC
HEARING AND TABLING ACTION ON THE REISSUANCE OF AN
INTERIM USE PERMIT TO ALLOW AGGREGATE MATERIALS
STOCKPILING AND RECYCLING AT 3137 COUNTRY DRIVE, FRA-
DOR UNTIL THE DECEMBER 22, 2008 REGULAR COUNCIL
MEETING
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Blesener.
Ayes (5).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
TEXT Blesener opened the Public Hearing to consider adoption of a Text
AMENDMENT Amendment to the Zoning Code allowing open and outdoor storage
RECREATIONAL of personal recreational equipment by Conditional Use Permit in the
EQUIPMENT Light-Industrial (I-1) Zoning District. It was noted that the Planning
STORAGE Commission recommended approval of a Text Amendment that would
allow RV storage to exceed the District's 8-foot height limitation.
Allan noted that the discussion by the Council was for an amendment that
would allow the storage of personal recreational equipment on I-1
properties. Allan noted the Planning Commission discussion that would
limit this to RV storage that is accessory to the principle use.
The Planner acknowledged that the Text Amendment he is proposing
would only allow RVs to exceed the 8-foot height limitation in the Code.
The Code would continue to require that outdoor storage be accessory to
the principle use.
The Council discussed this issue in detail with the consensus being that
their intent was to open the I-1 District to outdoor storage of personal
recreational equipment. There was discussion about whether this would
be limited to personal recreation equipment owned by the owner of the
property or include the building renters as well. The Council noted that it
was not interested in allowing outdoor storage space to be rented for
recreational equipment storage. The Council noted that the outdoor
storage of this equipment would have to comply with all other outdoor
storage requirements in the Code.
The City Planner indicated that he would put some options together for the
Council's consideration.
Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
11
