Informational update to the Parks & Recreation Commission
BACKGROUND:
From the recommendation of the Commission, bike racks in parks were budgeted for 2022.
Twenty bike racks have been ordered, ten of them have the City logo on them and ten without
the logo. Due to supply chain issues, the delivery date of the bike racks is to be determined.
The first twenty bike racks will be installed in the following locations:
City Hall
Nadeau Wildlife Park
Spooner Park
Rondeau Park
Veterans Memorial Park
Gervais Mill Park
Thunder Bay / Westwinds Park
Spooner Park
Old Fire Hall
The exact location will be finalized by staff once the bike racks come in and staff can bring them
out to the sites and determine the best locations. New bike racks are in the plan for Pioneer Park
and will be installed during the construction of the play node area.
After the first twenty bike racks have been installed, the existing conditions should be reviewed
and determined if there are additional areas of need and can budget for additional bike racks if
needed.
BUDGETARY IMPACT
$13,800 has been budgeted for in the City’s Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) Fund 400 for the
Bike Racks. Staff purchased twenty bike racks for $8,310. There will be additional funds for the
installation of the bike racks for concrete and other miscellaneous supplies but staff anticipates it
will remain within the budgeted amount.
