He reported the site improvements within the bid package
included new sidewalks and trails throughout the project area, site grading and drainage improvements,
rainwater gardens and turf mounds, interactive water feature (push button activation), tree and
landscaping plantings, fencing and site restoration.
The City Engineer reported that Albrecht Company was the lowest bidder with a total bid amount of
$1,010,402.50. The City of Little Canada has worked with Albrecht Company on similar projects in
the past and has found their work to be timely with good workmanship. He noted that the bids did
come in higher than expected so there is a funding gap of about $150,000. He stated that staff is
working with Albrecht Company to identify ways to reduce the costs, and potentially having city staff.
do some of the work instead of by Albrecht.
Keis asked how much of a gap does staff think it will get down to. The City Engineer stated that he
does not see the gap being any lower than $50,000 without compromising elements of the project. :
10
