MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING
PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION
LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA
March 5, 2009
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Parks & Recreation
Commission of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota, was held on the 5th day of March, 2009,
in the council chambers of the city center located at 515 Little Canada Road East in said city.
Chair Linda Fahey called the meeting to order at 7:37 p.m. and the following members of the
commission were present:
MEMBERS PRESEN'T': Ms. Linda Fahey, Chair
Mr. Kevin Steinert
Ms. Ruth Steinwall
Mr. Tom Maida
Ms. Katie Lolmaugh
Mr. Dan Slain
Ms. Patti Sullivan
ALSO PRESENT: Mr. Bill Sanders, Parks Consultant
Mr. James Morelan, Park & Recreation Director
Ms. Dotty Norgard, Recording Secretary
MINUTES: Maida made a motion to approve the February 2009 minutes, seconded by Steinwall. Motion
carried 7-0.
NEW
BUSINESS: HUOT PROPERTY DIVISION
Morelan stated the Planning Commission should consider having land available along the
south end of the property for a future trail or sidewalk. Sanders commented that at last
month's meeting this commission motioned to recommend that all consideration be given to
the preservation of the trees and wetlands on the northern-most lot.
Sanders thought that a possible sidewalk along Edgerton on this property would be very steep
because of the grade of the land. He thought that a sidewalk on the Little Canada Road side
though, would be a good suggestion.
Morelan commented that there is a long range plan for a sidewalk to be built that would
connect from Centerville Road to Edgerton Street on Little Canada Road. At the present time
there is very little land for a sidewalk to be built just east of the Fire Station as the homes are
located so close to the road. If and when a sidewalk is constructed it would provide a safer
route for children to walk to the St. John's School.
