MINUTES
Parks & Recreation Commission
April 2, 2009
debris can be reached from the shore. We would require them to have adult supervision to do
this project. Sanders asked if they would receive any type of recognition if they did this
project. Morelan stated that typically a thank you is put in the city newsletter.
Morelan said he was also contacted by a Thunder Bay Park area resident saying there was a
thistle problem near the trails in that area. He stated the parks employees would check into
this problem.
The city will be hiring the same number ofpart-time summer help as last year. It was
advertised and over twenty applications have already been received. Many of the parC-time
help from previous years are returning, so very few will be new hires. A decision of who to
hire will be made shortly after April 10, which is the deadline for applications.
Sullivan asked if there would be a parks clean-up day this year. She seemed to recall that
being done years ago. Morelan stated that the city has never scheduled a park clean-up, but
that the Little Canada Recreation Association has done it in the past, but not for the past two
or three years.
ADJOURN Upon motion by Steinert, seconded by Sullivan, the meeting was adjourned at 8:25 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
~~~ U~~
Dotty Norgard
Recording Secretary
Page 5 of 5
