MAINTENANCE WORKER 2 – PUBLIC WORKS JOB DESCRIPTION 3 3. Parks Department a. Performs duties as assigned in parks. b. Performs grass mowing, boulevard mowing, grass trimming, tree trimming, weed pulling, irrigation repair, and any other tasks as assigned. 4. Performs maintenance and repairs as needed. a. May perform building maintenance and repair for any City facility such as painting, carpentry, and minor plumbing. b. Maintains, repairs, and operates all City equipment such as, but not limited to, four-wheel drive pickups with plows, single-axle trucks, air compressors, generators, mowers, tractors with attachments, skidsteer, and tools. 5. Performs inspections of City infrastructure and equipment to ensure compliance with City, State, and Federal safety standards and general attractiveness. 6. Is on-call on a rotating stand-by basis to respond to emergency maintenance situations on holidays and weekends and to respond to emergency maintenance situations outside of normal working hours. Employee must respond in accordance with departmental call-out procedures. 7. Is polite, friendly, and exhibits good communication skills when dealing with the public, contractors, fellow employees, etc. 8. Treats everyone with respect. Does not use rude or abusive language or behavior towards any residents or fellow employees. 9. Regular attendance is considered an essential function of this position. 10. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned in relation to the operation of the City as a whole. DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES • Post high school education in sewer and/or water field. • Technical skills in carpentry, welding and/or fabrication. • Skills and experience in general construction, masonry or other related skills. • Possession of Class S-C Sanitary Sewer Operator’s License. • Possession of a Class D Water System Operator’s License. • CPR and/or First Aid Certification
