STAFF REPORT <br />TO:Mayor Fischer and Members of the City Council <br />FROM:Heidi Heller, City Clerk/HR Manager <br />Corrin Wendell, Community Development Director <br />Bryce Shearen, Parks & Rec/Community Services Director <br />DATE:July 26, 2023 <br />RE:2023-2024 Youth Commissioner Appointments <br />ACTION REQUESTED <br />A motion to reappoint Youth Commissioners Alexis Lum and Ayanna Churcher to 1-year terms <br />from August 1, 2023-July 31, 2024. <br />BACKGROUND <br />Youth Commissioner terms run for 1-year from August 1 – July 31 and Youth Commissioners can <br />serve up to three full terms. The terms of office for Youth Planning Commissioner Alexis Lum <br />and Youth Parks & Rec Commissioner Ayanna Churcher will expire on July 31, 2023. <br />The City has received requests for reappointment from Alexis Lum and Ayanna Churcher. Both <br />are the first City of Little Canada youth commissioners and began serving on their commissions in <br />December 2022. Since this is the first time the City has included youth on the Commissions, and <br />Alexis and Ayanna have only had the opportunity to serve part of a term, staff recommends that <br />both Alexis and Ayanna be reappointed for 1-year terms beginning on August 1, 2023. City Staff <br />has enjoyed adding youth commissioners and are excited to have Alexis and Ayanna continue <br />serve as commissioners. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends reappointing Alexis Lum to the Planning Commission and Ayanna Churcher to <br />the Parks & Recreation Commission for 1-years terms from August 1, 2023 to July 31, 2024.
