MEMORANDUM

TO: Parks & Recreation Commission

FROM: Bryce Shearen, CPRP, Parks & Recreation/Community Services Director

DATE: October 6, 2022

RE: Pioneer Park Improvements Update

BACKGROUND
After the completion of the Pioneer Park Phase I Master Plan in 2021, staff worked on
incorporating Pioneer Park improvements into the 10-year CIP. The first priority projects were
originally planned for 2022, but with staff capacity and the Rondeau Park playground
improvements, the Pioneer Park play node was shifted to 2023 with staff utilizing 2022 to find
additional funding and complete some items to prepare for the upcoming construction in 2023.

Staff has met with Bolton & Menk several times in 2022 to refine the project, get updated
pricing, and finalize construction documents. The construction documents are almost completed
and will be ready to get bids this fall.
