STAFF REPORT <br />TO: Parks & Recreation Commission <br />FROM:Sierra Hietala, Recreation Coordinator <br />DATE:June 1, 2023 <br />RE:Recreation Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED <br />Informational Update. No action is requested. <br />BACKGROUND <br />Park Logos <br />Staff continues to work on the park logos and has sent out revisions. Unfortunately, they were <br />not completed in time for the packet. Staff plans on bringing them forward at the July meeting <br />for the Commission to review and comment on. <br />Events <br />Little Canada 5K Sap Run: The Sap Run was held on Saturday, May 6 at Lake Gervais. We had <br />a total of 171 participants signed up with a starting goal of 150 participants! We received <br />overwhelmingly positive feedback about the race, with many folks saying they are looking <br />forward to next year. <br />Thank you to our volunteers who assisted with registration, cheered on runners at intersections, <br />handed out medals, directed traffic, and more. This event could not happen without your help, so <br />we sincerely appreciate you spending your Saturday morning with us. <br />We would also like to thank our sponsors for the 5K Sap Run: <br />-Bolton & Menk: Presenting Sponsor <br />-Bix Produce <br />-Fra-Dor Inc. <br />-The Little Canada Fire Department <br />-Dawn Keenan- Realtor <br />-And the Ramsey County Parks and Recreation Department <br />City-Wide Garage Sale: The annual City-Wide Garage Sale took place from May 18-May 20. <br />We had 50 registered sales throughout the City, which was seven more than last year. We <br />received very positive feedback from a participant who described the sale and map as “second- <br />to-none”. <br />Farmers Market: The Farmers Market will take place Mondays from 2-6 June 12-October 9 at <br />2920 Rice Street. We have a total of 9 vendors currently. These vendors will be selling fresh <br />fruits and vegetables, honey, jams and jellies, maple syrup, eggs, elderberry goods, micro greens, <br />handmade crafts, handcrafted woodworking items, and much more. We look forward to <br />continuing to provide SNAP/EBT at the Markets, and the Power of Produce Club for youth ages
