I-Iansmt
Paul and Sharon Anderson, 775 East Viking Drive, have made application fora "text
Amendment to the Municipal Code so that they would be allowed to own four dogs that
they utilise in their pet therapy volunteer efforts. Attached is the written request
submitted by the Anderson's outlining their volunteer efforts.
The current Code limits the number of animals allowed per dwelling unit to a maximum
of three. As you are aware, the City has had issues relating to property owners owning
and/or housing more than three animals. Should the Council wish fn consider the
Anderson's Text Amendment request, it is staff s feeling that the amendment should be
narrowly written to apply to certif ed pet therapy animals only. Attached is a proposed
ordinance amendmenC for your consideration.
I have also attached information from the Delta Society relative to their mission as well
as "Yet Partners" program. The Anderson dogs are certif ed under Delta's Pet Partners
Program.
17
