MINU'PBS
'Parks & Recreation Commission
January 6, 1994
Wehrle indicated that there is not much park land available
in that area for residents.
Johnson felt that the children's play area could be retained
as a buffer in the area.
Sanders stated that in the Master Plan there was another
piece of property on South Owasso Boulevard adjacent to the
Water Works that was identified as a future park. Sanders
felt that if the City could obtain that piece of property,
he would concur with Remerowski that the property along the
Trane Company would be less needed. However, he felt that
the walkway easement would need to be retained.
Hartmann felt that the residents in the area may not want
their children to play in an industrial area. Johnson felt
that the parents would go with their children to the park.
Hartmann felt that the City should keep the 30 foot easement
to get to the Water Works and the pie-shaped piece to the
east. He felt a play area could be installed there.
The Director stated that if the other park land that Sanders
referred to could be obtained, the park could be placed
there. Johnson asked why that parcel was marked as park
land. Sanders stated that at the time it was designated as
such, it was vacant, considered unbuildable, and somewhat
landlocked by the Water Works and a drainage ditch.
Rue indicated that he will be on vacation until April of
1994. Therefore, the City will have time to research the
matter.
Rue asked who would establish a value on the park property
next to Trane Company. Wehrle stated that an appraisal
would have to be done.
Wehrle stated that building a small picnic area on the
triangular piece adjacent to the trail intrigued him.
Sanders indicated that there would be room for a small
picnic area in that location.
Rue stated that he will be in town next week and will try to
find his copy of Trane Company's survey. Sanders felt that
there should be a copy at City Hall. The Director asked
VanSChoonhoven to check the address file at City Hall to see
if a survey was on file for the Trane Company.
-4-
