MINUTES
Parks & Recreation Commission
October 6, 1994
Holm asked if it was possible to let people other than those
selected randomly for the telephone survey fill out a survey
if they were interested. Remerowski stated that this was
not talked about at the meetings that were held. However,
they did discuss placing a few questions in the newspaper
for people to fill out and return.
The Director stated that he is unsure where Question #84
came from since those parks are only a block apart and there
is basically a trail connecting them now. He felt that the
question must be an error. The Director felt that question
may have got twisted around or re-worded from the
Commission's discussion regarding linking the Westwinds area
to Pioneer and Spooner Parks.
Johnson asked why the trail around Gervais Lake was not
addressed. She stated that it was wanted on the 1988
survey. Johnson felt that it is a dangerous area that
should be addressed in the survey. Remerowski stated that a
trail around Gervais Lake would be a County project.
Reconstruction of Keller Parkway is in the County's plans
for 1995, but the details are not yet known on the project.
Johnson stated that Question #73 is vague. She stated that
she did not know what was meant by the Little Canada park
system in the question. She thought it could refer to
either programs or facilities. Greger suggested adding
something in the introduction to Question #73 relating to
programs. Remerowski stated that programs are addressed
later on in the survey.
Johnson stated that she did not know what was meant on the
top of page six where it says "Of there facilities..." The
Director felt that the word "there" is typographical error
and should be "those".
Holm felt Question #73 should address the park system plan.
Magnuson felt that Question #73 is pertaining to the
facilities mentioned in the introductory sentence. The
Director agreed stating that Question #73 was not meant to
address programming.
Remerowski felt that the Commission should not change what
is being asked, but offer some suggestions. He felt that
some of the questions have been asked in previous surveys,
and are phrased the way they are to get some type of
response.
The Director stated that some questions have been phrased
the way they are in order to compare it to the 1988 survey.
However, he felt that Question #84 was a definite mistake.
-4-
