MINUTES <br />Parks & Recreation Commission <br />October 6, 1994 <br />POSITION employment with the City, the City has been in the process <br />of reviewing applications and interviewing for a person to <br />take his position. Staff has decided to give the person <br />added duties and the title of Parkkeeper. The Director <br />stated that there will be a recommendation to the Council at <br />Wednesday's meeting to fill the position. <br />TOP DRESSING Remerowski asked the Director if an estimate has been <br />MACHINE obtained for a top dressing machine. The Director indicated <br />that an actual quotation has not been received. However, he <br />estimated the cost to be $3,000. Remerowski felt that the <br />North Suburban Youth Association could be a source of <br />funding the machine. The Director agreed that the machine <br />could be dropped from the 10% list if funding is found from <br />another source. <br />Holm asked if a top dressing machine could be rented from a <br />neighboring city. The Director stated that he is not aware <br />of a city nearby that owns one. <br />1995 BUDGET The Director stated that the budget information has been <br />INFORMATION supplied for the Commission to review. He asked if there <br />were any comments or questions. <br />Johnson asked why no <br />hockey in the Parks <br />Director stated that <br />this year to proceed <br />kids are registering <br />teams. <br />1995 registration fees are listed for <br />end Recreation Special Fund. The <br />there were not enough registrations <br />with the program. He stated that many <br />at larger cities which have traveling <br />Johnson asked why no registration fees are listed for the <br />nature study. The Director stated that there was not enough <br />participation so the class has had to be cancelled. <br />The Director stated that the Commission should review the <br />budget material and call him if there are any questions. <br />Johnson asked why swimming lessons were not held in 1994. <br />The Director stated that there were not enough <br />registrations. Johnson felt that working parents could be <br />an issue with low registrations on events held during the <br />day. <br />PIONEER PARK The Director stated that the ball fields at Pioneer Park <br />BALL FIELDS are showing wear from play. They will be re-graded this <br />fall, and the grading will be funded under Grounds Upkeep in <br />the General Fund. <br />COMMUNITY Holm asked if the Cities of Shoreview and Maplewood have <br />CENTERS been approached regarding use of their community centers by <br />Little Canada residents.
