MINUTES
Parks & Recreation Commission
August 4, 1994
PIONEER & Wehrle stated that the bids have come in on the Pioneer Park
WESTWIND PARK and Westwind Park trails. He asked if the City
TRAIL BIDS has indicated whether the bids can be split up. The
Director stated that he met with the City Administrator and
City Park Consultant on the matter. Bids could be split
according to the specifications, but they recommended
against doing so due to higher administration costs with two
contracts and the quality work Daily and Sons does. Wehrle
agreed with their recommendation.
Wehrle stated that the Park Consultant would like to get the
Commission's feeling on base bids "A" and "B" and the option
of adding alternate A-1. Adding A-1 would result in the
total cost of $49,320 which is over what was budgeted for
those improvements. He stated that option was the one for
the loop on the Pioneer Park trail. Remerowski was not in
favor of the loop at this time. Wehrle agreed since if the
parking lot expanded, that area of trail may have to be torn
out.
Wehrle recommended that base bid "A" and base bid "B" be
awarded in the amount of $43,719.
Motion seconded by Johnson.
Motion carried 5 - 0.
PARK MASTER Remerowski stated that he would like to review the Park
PLAN Master Plan because he did not like what he was hearing
tonight in regard to people not wanting additional park land
and trails. Wehrle stated that the plan is conceptual and
realizes that some improvements may not be feasible.
Remerowski felt that the Commission as a group should review
the plan. Johnson asked if Remerowski just wanted the NSP
power line trail reviewed. Remerowski stated that he would
for now, but eventually he felt that the whole plan should
be reviewed. Wehrle suggested reviewing the plan in
sections.
ADJOURN Remerowski recommended that the meeting be adjourned.
Motion seconded by Holm.
Motion carried 5 - 0.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned
at 10:45 p.m.
Res ctf~j ~~y u mit ed,
K~~ah choo oven ~ ~~'.'..>
-14-
