COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
The City of Little Canada emphasized community engagement with this corridor study due the
long history of public complaints associated with Labore Road. City staff wanted to hear from as
many of the stakeholders as possible and not just the routine advocates that they typically hear
from. The public engagement process followed the process outlined below. The first round of
engagement focused primarily on listening to the community and documenting shortcomings of
the corridor. Round two of the engagement focused primarily on sharing the technical analysis of
the concerns that were heard along with identification of possible improvements.
Community Engagement Effort #1A – Project Website and Online Survey
One of the first steps of this corridor study included the preparation of a Project Website
and Online Survey. Once created, postcards were mailed to all properties within a half-mile
of the corridor study area inviting them to share their feedback. The project website
included background information, a survey regarding their current and possible use of
Labore Road, and an interactive GIS-based map that allowed users to place geo-referenced
feedback on a map. In total, 115 surveys were received, and 23 comments were placed on
the GIS-based map. A full summary of the feedback received via the project website and
online survey is included in the 2023 Labore Road Engagement Report included in Appendix
A.

Exhibit 3 – InputID GIS-Based Engagement Tool

Community Engagement Effort #1B – Public Information Gathering Open House
A public information gathering open house was held on May 23, 2023. Similar to the project
website and online survey that had previously been prepared, the goal of this open house
was to solicit public feedback but in another setting. The open house was held at the
Montreal Court Apartments along the western edge of the corridor study area. The open
house provided an informal setting for community members to talk to project staff, voice
their concerns, and learn more about the corridor study process. Over 50 community
members attended the open house. The input received during the open house and through
the project website and online survey was used to guide the technical analysis performed in
the subsequent step in the corridor study process. A full summary of the feedback received
via the open house is included in the 2023 Labore Road Engagement Report included in
Appendix A.
