12 <br /> <br />City of Little Canada Personnel Policy <br />SECTION 15 – OTHER LEAVES WITH PAY <br /> <br />Holidays <br />A. The City observes the following 11 12 days to be official holidays for all permanent full-time <br />and permanent part-time employees, working a minimum of 20 hours per week on average <br />projected over a calendar year based on anticipated demands of the position: <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />*In years within which Christmas Eve falls on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, regular full-time <br />and regular part-time employees, working a minimum of 20 hours per week on <br />average projected over a calendar year based on anticipated demands of the position, will <br />be granted a floating holiday in lieu of the Christmas Eve holiday. This floating holiday <br />can be used at the discretion of the employee within the calendar year, subject to approval <br />of the supervisor. <br /> <br />If an employee leaves the service of the City prior to December 24th in a given year where a <br />floating holiday is granted, the floating holiday is considered unearned, and a vacation day will <br />be substituted if the floating holiday has been used. If no vacation accrual exists, the payment <br />for this day would be deducted from the last paycheck. Floating holidays can be carried over to <br />the next calendar year with approval by the City Administrator. <br /> <br />B. All official holidays shall be considered to commence at the beginning of the first shift of the <br />day on which the holiday is observed and continue for twenty-four (24) hours thereafter. <br /> <br />C. When a holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday shall be a holiday and when a holiday <br />falls on a Saturday, the preceding Friday shall be a holiday. Note the exception outlined above <br />for the Christmas Eve holiday in years within which Christmas Eve falls on a Friday, Saturday <br />or Sunday. <br /> <br />D.
