CHLEBECK, Clerk <br />515 Little Canada Road <br />Little Canada, Minn. 55117 <br />4a4-2177 <br />BEETLE SURVIVAL SURVFY <br />I am currently conducting a beetle survival survey through the <br />University of Minnesota. <br />MAYOR <br />Donald Valanto <br />COUNCILMEN <br />Robert De BaCe <br />Raymond Hanson <br />Jim Veilieux <br />Morris "Muri" Jemersen <br />Samples have been taken from North Oaks, Hopkins, West St. Paul, <br />Vadnais Heights, North St. Paul and Little Canada. <br />The survival rate of beetles above ground seems to be about 2%. <br />The survival rate of beetles or larvae at ground level, in tree <br />trunks, stumps and logs is about 35%. <br />This shows the importance of disposin of all elm logs before spring,. <br />In March and April, I will be conducting a elm lour pile survey and <br />issuing notices for removal to homebuners of all beetles infested <br />logs. <br />Terry Horwath <br />Tree Inspector <br />-4W rs <br />
