SNYKER, JR. SAINT PAUL. MINNESOTA 55102
TELEPHONE 298.4127
To: Municipal Clerks and Municipal Engineers
From: Deane R. Anklan, County Engineer
Subject: Sight Distance Protection at Commercial Driveways
Date: April 21, 1977
Recent planning practice has encouraged the use of small
plantings on hummocks or berms adjacent to commercial drive-
ways in an effort to create an aesthetically pleasing approach
to major roads.
Often this landscape treatment severely restricts the exiting
driver's view of the roadway, creating a serious accident
potential. We strongly recommend that all areas within 25
feet of the edge of any county road be clear of obstructions
to the driver's line of sight.
All proposals for modification and landscaping on county
road rights of way shall be submitted to the County Engineers
Department for approval prior to any work on the right of way.
CLEWS EXHIBIT NO. 1 D 6 3-
Meeting-4-27-77
IIIN
1STS I
APR 22 1977
CITY OF
s iiTTLE CANADA
