City of Little Canada Planning Commission
February 17, 1978
Page Two
turn pass the island to west side of the pumps. Exhibit "D" depicts the probable
vehicular conflict, the above mentioned motorist would likely use the east side
of the pumps as would customarily a motorist entering from Rice Street.
4. Additional circulation problems could result from cars stacking up partially in the
driveways. This could hamper traffic upon the roadway and also the traffic
generated by the market itself.
5. The forthcoming channelization of Rice Street traffic might limit the number of
access and exit paths vehicles may take. Exhibit "E" depicts these potential °
pathways.
CONCLUSIONS
The installation of the gasoline pumps would leave only -sixteen (16) parking spaces as
proposed. This is grossly under the required number of spaces. In addition, the
circulation patterns that would potentially occur around the proposed pump location
would be hazardous to traffic on the streets and within the site. The acquisition of
additional property would accommodate the required number of parking spaces and also
allow for safer circulation patterns involving the street traffic, the shoppers and the
gasoline customers. The redesigning of the parking and relocation of the pumps might
also allow acceptable circulation and parking space.
cc; City Council
Joseph Chlebeck
Clayton Parks
Appl icant
51
Clerk's exhibitno.
