STAFF REPORT TO:Parks & Recreation Commission FROM:Bryce Shearen, CPRE, Parks & Recreation/Community Services Director DATE:September 7, 2023 RE:Pioneer Park Updates ACTION REQUESTED None. Information update to the Parks and Recreation Commission. BACKGROUND Progress for Pioneer Park continues to move forward. Below are weekly updates since the last Parks & Recreation Commission meeting and some photos. Staff continues to have weekly meetings with the contractor and Engineer on site. Staff has begun meeting to start the planning for a ribbon-cutting and grand opening ceremony. It is still a little early to know the timeline for some of the final pieces, but staff is tentatively planning for the ceremony to take place the third week in October. Additional information will be shared on an exact date in the next couple of weeks. Weekly Updates: Work completed for the week of July 10 – July 14. o Finished laying drain tile to the pond. o Worked on draintile in the playground containers. o Ran conduit for water jets. Work completed for the week of July 17 – July 21. o Hauled in gravel for the playground area. o Began construction of the playground. o Began installation of conduit lines. Work completed for the week of July 24 – July 28. o Subgrade preparation for the sidewalk and concrete. o Continued working on playground construction. o Drone footage was taken of the site: YouTube - https://youtu.be/TJ9oUuFZT6M Work completed for the week of July 31 – August 4. o Footings were poured for shelter, fence posts, and kiosk. o Continued working on playground construction. o Portions of concrete sidewalk poured. Work completed the week of August 7 – August 11. o Began construction of picnic shelter. o Continued drain tile installation. o Tested water lines. Work completed the week of August 14 – August 18
