Bridgewood Park – Vadnais Heights, MN - After
The court conversion could be an economical way to add dedicated pickleball to the city and
utilizing the existing Spooner Park courts would be away from neighboring properties and with
the topography of the park would offer some protection from the wind, which is another element
the pickleball players have to work with since the ball is lightweight.
Having dedicated pickleball courts would be an amenity that the public has requested and could
allow for additional programming, events, or tournaments. Canadian Days also has a pickelball
tournament and this could offer an enhancement to them as well.
If the desire is to move forward with the conversion of Spooner Park courts this could be
completed in 2024.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the Commission discuss and provide feedback on the potential of converting
Spooner Park to pickleball courts.
