MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA JANUARY 4, 2024 Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the City Council of Little Canada, Minnesota was convened on the 4th day of January, 2024 in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 Little Canada Road in said City. Chair Howarth called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and the following members of the Parks & Recreation Commission were present at roll call: PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION: DeLong Miller, Hipp, Horwath, Owens, Schletty, Williams, and Youth Commissioner Churcher. ABSENT: Mui ALSO PRESENT: Parks & Rec/Community Services Director Bryce Shearen and Recreation Coordinator Sierra Hietala. WELCOME OF THE NEW COMMISSIONER Commissioner Owens introduced himself. MINUTES Commissioner Churcher made a motion to approve the December 7, 2023 Parks & Recreation Commission minutes as submitted. Commissioner Williams seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. ELECTION OF VICE-CHAIR AND COMMISSION APPOINTMENTS The Parks & Rec Director reported that both Commissioners Hipp and Delong Miller have been reappointed to serve an additional term by the City Council. He stated that the vacancy left by Commissioner Abruzzese was then filled by Commissioner Owens. He stated that Chair Horwath was also reappointed as Chair and a Vice-Chair will need to be appointed by the Commission tonight. He stated that Commissioner Churcher did express interest in serving as Vice-Chair and he has checked the by-laws and nothing is preventing that. He recognized that often a Vice-Chair would eventually move into the Chair position, which would not be possible for a youth member because of their short terms. Commissioner Schletty reviewed the duties of the Vice-Chair to step in as Chair when the Chair is not present.
