courts to tennis only. This is a win-win scenario in that both tennis and pickleball is still
available to be played within blocks of each other and each sport has its own facility and
does not have to share the courts with different striping and slightly different nets. An
added plus is the pickleball courts at Spooner are a long way away from the closest
houses so the noise factor, which has become a hot button topic around the country,
should be non-existent. Quotes are being obtained for the work and it is hope the work
can be completed prior to Canadian Days.

- Pioneer Park Stormwater Reuse Project
As you may recall, the Ramsey Washington Metro Watershed District is fully funding the
purchase and installation of a stormwater reuse facility that will pump water from the
large pond into the irrigation system for use on the fields. A preconstruction meeting was
held last month and the contractor, Peterson Brothers, is hoping to start work in late-April
or early-May. The earthwork and other prep work will be completed in about three
weeks and will require the removal of the bridge spanning the pond connection on the
east side of the park. The park will remain open during the work and it should not affect
any of the sports on any of the fields. There is a long lead time on the actual pumping
equipment so that will be installed later in the summer but will not affect park operations.

- Trail Rehabilitation, New Trail Installation, Rondeau Court Resurfacing
The 2024 Street Improvement project includes trail rehabilitation of portions of the
Pioneer Park trail system and portions of the Thunder Bay trial system. The plans also
include replacement of the Rondeau Park basketball court, which was damaged by water
running down the hill to the west. The water problem has been fixed with drain tile so
now the court can be replaced. The new trail work between Payne Avenue and Pioneer
Commons is also scheduled to be completed this spring now that the easement
agreements have been signed with Xcel Energy. The plan sheet is attached. The Pioneer
Commons trail is graded and nearly ready for paving but staff does not know the
schedule for that work. There is more paving to be done on the streets within the
development this summer so the trail work will likely take place at that time.

The attached plan sheet show the limits of the rehabilitation work in the two parks. The
Thunder Bay work will be coordinated with the new trail work as the projects meet at
Payne Avenue. The start date for the trail rehabilitation work is unknown at this time. A
preconstruction meeting should be occurring within the next couple of weeks and a
preliminary schedule will be provided at that time. At this point, all that is known is the
Pioneer Park work will take place after the water reuse project is substantially completed.
