MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br /> <br />APRIL 4, 2024 <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the City Council of Little Canada, <br />Minnesota was convened on the 4th day of April, 2024 in the Council Chambers of the City <br />Center located at 515 Little Canada Road in said City. <br /> <br />Chair Howarth called the meeting to order at 6:32 p.m. and the following members of the Parks <br />& Recreation Commission were present at roll call: <br /> <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION: Delong Miller, Hipp, Horwath, Mui, Owens, <br />Schletty, Williams, Churcher. <br /> <br />ALSO PRESENT: Public Works Director Bill Dirks, Community Relations Manager Laura <br />Linehan, and Recreation Coordinator Sierra Heitala <br /> <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />Commissioner Churcher made a motion to approve the February 1, 2024 Parks & Recreation <br />Commission minutes as submitted. Commissioner Owens seconded the motion. The motion was <br />unanimously approved. <br /> <br />OLD BUSINESS <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT STAFFING UPDATE <br />The Public Works Director reported that 44 applications were received for the Parks and <br />Recreation Director, which was narrowed to 13, and then to five finalists who were interviewed. <br />He stated that there are now three finalists that will complete a final round of interviews. He <br />hoped that a recommendation would be ready for the City Council at its next meeting. <br /> <br />PIONEER PARK PLAYNODE PUNCHLIST ITEMS UPDATE <br />The Public Works Director commented that once temperatures rise and the ground dries out, the <br />contractor will return to complete the elements of the water feature and other punch list items. <br />He anticipated that the park could be fully completed by June. <br /> <br />WAYFINDING SUBCOMMITTEE UPDATE <br />Commissioner Mui stated that the subcommittee has met three times attempting to create <br />wayfinding signs that could be used within the parks. He stated that he has been working more <br />on the design element. <br /> <br />Commissioner Williams stated that she has been working on the research element of the project <br />and shared some of the information she has learned thus far. <br />
