<br /> <br /> STAFF REPORT <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />TO: Parks & Recreation Commission <br /> <br />FROM: Bill Dircks, Public Works Director <br /> <br />DATE: May 2, 2024 <br /> <br />RE: Department Staffing Updates <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED <br />No action is requested. <br />BACKGROUND <br />Parks and Recreation Director <br />After an extensive hiring process, the City of Little Canada is pleased to announce the hiring of <br />Steve Anderson for the Parks and Recreation Director position. The City Council approved Mr. <br />Anderson's hiring at the April 10 City Council meeting. Steve brings extensive experience in <br />parks and recreation management as a Recreation Program Supervisor at the City of Roseville, <br />overseeing recreational facilities, including the Cedarholm Community Building & Golf Course, <br />two indoor community gymnasiums, and five outdoor ice rinks & warming houses. He will start <br />on Tuesday, April 30. Steve has been a volunteer firefighter with the Little Canada Fire <br />Department since 2019 and recently earned a Masters Degree in Public Administration. <br /> <br />Parks and Recreation Coordinator Update <br />Sierra Hietala, Recreation Coordinator, has announced that she will leave the city on May 17. <br />Sierra is a vital member of our Parks and Recreation team, who organized new programs and <br />increased participation at existing events. Sierra has also played a large role in the Minnesota <br />Recreation and Park Association and recently passed the Certified Parks and Recreation <br />Professional exam.
